Born on February 18, 1982, in Tehran, Mehdi Paknejad developed a passion for music from an early age. In 2003, he began learning the setar under the guidance of the esteemed maestro Masoud Shaari and studied with him for several years. Simultaneously, he took introductory courses in music theory with Kamran Omid.

In 2014, he enrolled at the University of Art and Architecture in Tehran, where he studied under the great master Dariush Pirniakan. He also learned music theory and harmony from Vartan Sahakian and Shahab Sharafi. Additionally, he briefly studied the dotar with Amirhossein Tafreshi Pour.

Paknejad is self-taught in music software such as Cubase and Ableton Live, gaining experience in electroacoustic music. Since 2015, he has been a member of the Vang Va music group, expanding his artistic activities across various fields.

Artistic Activities:

• Participated in the Fajr Music Festival (2006) as a setar player with the Hamsaz ensemble, led by Masoud Shaari.
• Performed at Roudaki Hall with the Hamsaz ensemble in 2007.
• Performed at Roudaki Hall with the Drab ensemble in 2009.
• Played in the tribute concert for Jamshid Mashayekhi at Golestan Palace with the Jana ensemble in 2012.
• Released the album “Sib, Mehrabani” (Apple, Kindness) as a composer and setar player in 2013, with a live performance at Milad Tower, Tehran.
• Member of the Iranian Music House since 2013.
• Collaborated with Mehran Modiri on the TV series “ShooKhi Kardam” (2014).
• Worked with Mohsen Chavoshi on the theme song for the “Shahrzad” series.
• Composed and played music for the TV series “Sabze Neshani” (2016) and “Dange-o-Fange Roozegar” (2019).
• Released the singles “Ba Abhaye Ravan” (2019) and “Rozane Abri” (2020).
• Collaborated with Shahab Hosseini on the TV show “Hamrefigh” (2020).
• Released the album “Rajaz Khoon” (2021).
• Composed music for the theater play “9824” (2022), directed by Amin Shirazi.
• Collaborated with Arman Garshasbi on the album “Az To Goftam” (2023) and performed concert tours in Tehran and various cities.
• Composed music for the *short film “Ker” (2024) and the **theater play “Self-Portrait” (2024).​
